The Challenge of Maintaining Old Drains
This installment of H2Oakland gives an overview of how drains in Oakland County are created and the challenges of maintaining them.
There are approximately 200 Chapter 4 Drains in Oakland County. These open ditch drains were usually built long ago to alleviate flooding problems and to help farmers drain their fields. Most of them are in disrepair due to the fact that the Drain Code limits assessment for repair.
